09 STUDLEY WOOD Golf Club - Spanish Chamber Of Commerce UK Golf event supported by HOTEL VILLA PADIERNA & FLAMINGOS GOLF RESORT As our name suggests, woods play an important part in the topography of the course. Designed by Simon Gidman, the par 73 course is set in 170 undulating acres of what was once an extensive woodland. History tells us that some 480 years ago, no less a person than Henry VIII used to enjoy his sporting afternoons here, hunting deer and wild boar. Two loops of nine holes play in opposite directions around a 30 acre wood, which lies at the centre of the course. Prize for best individual score Darcy Dando (Barclays Wealth) Score: 43

14 Rushcliffe Golf Course - William Roache Golf Day  supported by  BARCELÓ MONTECASTILLO   BBC TV   Rushcliffe Golf Club was founded in 1909 by a group of Nottingham businessmen who leased approximately 160 acres of land from Earl Howe, the then resident of nearby Kingston Hall. The clubhouse was built on 1 acre of land purchased from other sources. The course is situated on a wooded ridge which rises above the Trent Valley giving magnificent views across the surrounding countryside and of the City of Nottingham in the distance. In the early days of the Club, one of its great attractions was that play on a Sunday was permitted.... Top

The course has steadily evolved since that date and provides a challenging yet ultimately rewarding test of golf in beautiful natural surroundings. The Club is particularly noted for its high-quality greens. Burford Golf Club proves a popular venue for visitors - it is situated in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds and provides an array of stunning scenery, both within and just outside the Club's boundaries. The Islantilla golf was bought by Peter "Spatty" Powell. We raised £2095 on the auction alone. Sold £1340 of raffle tickets & in total we are looking at in excess of £4500 on the day. Top

19 Tadmarton Golf Club Captain Charity Golf day Katharine House Hospice supported by HOTEL CONVENTO LA MAGDALENA & ANTEQUERA GOLF HOTEL It is natural, I suppose, that golf clubs should develop a more strongly individual character or atmosphere than clubs of other kinds, and in this country where there is such a variety of courses, it is not surprising that this impression is more marked than anywhere else in the world. At the older championship links - St. Andrews, Prestwick, Royal St. George's, Westward Ho! and so on - there is an atmosphere that is at once distinguishable from all the others, but the same applies to many less celebrated clubs upon which the gaze is seldom directed. When I was invited to play at Tadmarton Heath in North Oxfordshire, this fact was quickly confirmed. Winner: Mike Swann. Top

25 STOVER GOLF CLUB - Ladies Open - DREAM A WAY CHARITY GOLF DAY supported by Supported by LA CALA GOLF RESORT. Although the present Golf Club dates from 1931 the origins can be traced back to 1894 when Major Harold St Maur created a 9- hole course on his own estate, which was interwoven with the Stover pheasant shoot. The present trolley shed was the pheasant-rearing shed! In 1931 work commenced on constructing a James Braid designed golf course at the present location. Situated very close to the A38 Plymouth Expressway and 3 miles north of Newton Abbot, Stover Golf Club is one of the most popular courses in South Devon. 27 BANSTEAD DOWNS GOLF CLUB SURREY PROAM - Supported by  Over 200 players - tee time started from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM. Banstead Downs Golf Club founded in 1890 lies on chalk down land with a course designed by the eminent player and golf architect James Braid. The course which measures at 6,195 yards with a CSS of 69, sets a premium on straight driving and accurate approach shots into the greens. When the wind blows it can prove a real challenge to all levels of players. The club house offers a warm welcome and a full range of facilities to all visitors. Broome Manor Golf Club is fully affiliated to the English & Wiltshire Golf Union, the English Women's Golf Association and the Wiltshire Ladies Golf Union. This means that members of Broome Manor are eligible to play at almost every golf course in Great Britain (subject to certain handicap constraints). The club has very active Mens, Ladies, Senior and Junior sections and is proud to have had 4 international players as members, one of whom - David Howell, holed the putt that won the Walker Cup in September 1995 and was part of the winning Ryder Cup teams of 2004 and 2006. The Broome Manor Golf Complex is operated by Swindon Borough Council who are responsible for course management, green fees and tee time reservation. The Club Diary is packed full of competitions and golf events throughout the year and there are many social events too. Winners: Paul Severino won nearest the pin comp on the 6th hole  raising £662 !!
